Candido Godoi
This city in South Brazil is known as the ‘twin Capital’ of the world. It is interesting to note that the twin birth rate in this city is 18 times higher than the world average. The locals believe that this strange phenomenon is the result of the scientific venture started by Nazi physician Mengele, who fled to Candido Godoi after the 2nd World War. It is believed that he had a fascination for twins. However, modern scientists believe that the birth of such twins is due to ingesting of toxic waste or due to inbreeding.
Hellingly Hospital
It is not a hospital but a lunatic asylum abandoned several years ago. Many people have reported strange and eerie incidents that have taken place in this asylum.
Gunkanjima
Gunjanjima derived its name from the Japanese word for battleship, due to the island’s resemblance to this vessel. This island used to be a mining ground before it shut down. Since then, it has been in a very dilapidated state and the whole island looks creepy and strange.
British Sea Forts
These forts were constructed during the 2nd World War by the British Royal Navy in order to fortify their country. At present, it lies a few feet above the waves of the North Sea. The ruined forts above the sea water look eerie to many onlookers.
